Hey there, and welcome to Inside AI Robotics!

I’m David Brady, a retired clinical social worker turned AI robotics enthusiast. After decades of working with individuals, families, and communities, I became deeply interested in how technology—especially AI and robotics—can support the kind of meaningful, compassionate care that social work is all about.

In my former employment in a Government agency I was a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Business User Acceptance Testing (BUAT) lead specializing in child welfare technology. I brought a unique blend of skills essential for driving innovation in this critical field. With twenty+ years of deep domain knowledge, I understand the intricate processes, legal mandates, and ethical considerations that social workers face daily.

In my role as a BUAT lead, I excelled at “translating” complex social work needs into clear technical requirements. By bridging the gap between technical developers and end-users, I ensured that IT solutions were not only functional but also user-friendly. My experience enables me to evaluate whether technical solutions effectively meet the practical needs of social workers.

Having guided technology from design through implementation, I possess valuable insights into the challenges of integrating new tools into existing workflows. I understand the importance of training staff and managing change for the successful adoption of AI products.

My involvement in technology design and testing has allowed me to identify key pain points within current systems, such as areas where human decision-making is most challenged and exploring opportunities for predictive analytics to enhance case management efficiency. I am passionate about leveraging technology to optimize resource allocation and support social workers in their vital roles.

This blog is my space to explore the exciting crossroads where human systems and intelligent machines meet. I believe the future of social work, healthcare, and essential human service systems will be deeply shaped by innovations in robotics and AI—and I want to be part of shaping that future in a thoughtful, ethical, and human-centered way.
